Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Marvel and The Avengers.  Since Robert Downey Jr. rocked up on the big screen back in 2008 declaring

This quickly became my all-time favourite cine-verse.  (Yes, I loved them before they hit the big-screen too) I even have the above picture, from Avengers Assemble as a canvas in my living room.  True story!

But there are lessons to be learned when watching these guys, and it’s not just how to kick a bad-guys ass…

So how do you become your own (super)hero…

I’ve been rewatching the Marvel movies, and I still get chills when the words “Avengers Assemble” come up on the screen, the same way I did at the cinema… but I realised something lately…

We can be each of our beloved heroes!

I’ll start with my favourite…

Tony Stark/Iron Man

Key Trait:  Confidence.

Tony Stark is smart, and he’s confident.  He knows he’s the smartest guy in the room, and he owns it.  he’s not afraid to show it either.

Be like Tony:  Have confidence in yourself.  You may not take it to the levels that Stark does, but you need to have confidence in yourself, your skills, abilities & ideas if you want to succeed.  You need to have your own back more than anyone else!

Steve Rogers/Captain America

Key Trait: Loyalty

Rogers stands up for what he believes is right, does what he needs to do, and stands by those who need him at a time of crisis.

Be like Steve:  Stick by your beliefs and your values.  Be loyal.  Take pride in all that you do. And be respectful at all times!

Bruce Banner/The Hulk

Key Trait: Vulnerability

Banner believes in a better world.  His work as a scientist and doctor is meant to help the world.  He’s also worried about what will happen if The Hulk takes over.  But he SHOWS UP despite his fears.

Be like Bruce:  Feel the fear, embrace it, do what needs to be done.  You may feel vulnerable, but you’ll get through it.  And you’ll be better for it.

Thor

Key Trait: strength and honour.

Honour, strength, valour… what more would you expect from the would-be King of Asgard?  Standing up for what he believes in, and fighting with honour for those he loves.

Be like Thor:  Stand up and fight for what you believe in.  Do the right thing.  Be honourable in what you do.

Natasha Romanov/Black Widow

Key Trait: resourceful

Romanov does what’s needed in order to get the job done.  She can be vulnerable, and strong, and she always finds a way to handle the situation.

Be like Natasha: Be smart and use what you have.  Sometimes the job is tricky, but with a little thought, you can get through it. Just do what you need to do.  And don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself!

Clint Barton/Hawkeye:

Key Trait:  Humanity

The most regular guy of the group.  Barton shows up,  kicks ass, hits his targets.  He gets the job done, and when needed he’s the guy who rallies the team (think his chat with Wanda/Scarlet Witch in Age of Ultron)

Be like Clint:  Show up!  Do what you can. Play to your strengths and hit your targets!  While you’re at it… remember you can have an amazing career and a family (even if you don’t live on a farm)

Director Nick Fury

Key Trait: Leadership & Decision Making

The head of S.H.I.E.L.D., the guy responsible for pulling The Avengers together, and calling the shots.  He’s the boss who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and do what’s right for his team.

Be like Nick:  Lead your team.  Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, and if need be, don’t be scared to call someone out on a ‘stupid ass decision’ and ignore it.

Tell me… Who is your favourite superhero?  How can you show up like them every day? I’m excited to read this…

p.s.  I love Marvel, I also enjoy DC… there’s no war here 😉
